Are the Windows clean? |
|
It makes such a difference when the windows have just been cleaned. You think to yourself: "Why didn't we do it before?" It is so lovely to be able to see everything clearly again--but we need to keep them clean.
In the Bible we read of a man named Daniel. He prayed three times every day, although he lived in a heathen land, where no one served the living God. Perhaps the glass was not so clear in those days, but he made sure, whenever he prayed, by having his window open in the direction of Jerusalem, where God's temple was. He did not want anything between him and his God.
There are many things that can separate us from God. In Isaiah we read: "Your iniquities have separated between you and your God." That is why the Lord Jesus came into this world, to bear the load of sin when He died on the cross, so that all those that trusted in Him might be set free from their sins.
The Psalmist said: "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." But He heard Daniel's prayer, for he confessed his sins, and an angel was sent to him with the message: "Your words have been heard: for you are greatly beloved."
